Romp In The Snow (Grown Up Style)

New Year’s Eve day, it’s snowing!
How much more festive and romantic can it get?

Brian and I were able to snuggle up in bed a little longer today,
As he wasn’t getting up at 5:00 a.m.
It was so nice to not have a cold side of the bed to wake to,
But hugs instead.
And then off to breakie (as the Aussie in us says- aka breakfast).

My fave- strawberry pancakes.
What you don’t see- bacon and breakfast potatoes.
I didn’t eat it all!
Perfect fuel to get started on this last day of the year.

So the snow is gorgeous.
(But after the holiday I am normally done with it and ready for spring. )

But…I insist on a good play in the snow when we have a more than a dusting.
Today looked promising.
Two to four inches predicted.
Constant big flakes,
Cascading onto the once green grass.

We watched and waited for the perfect time to go out.

The bad part?
Well…I don’t really have anyone to sled with.
Growing up with lots of brothers and sisters guaranteed sledding buddies.
Still…off we went.
Coogee, Cooper and I.

My toboggan.
Ready for its rider.

First you must make your tracks,
So I went up and down the hill a few times to get a good path.
Tedious but any sledder will tell you-
Necessary for a more enjoyable ride.

Then I needed a friend.
Guess who was available?!

Yes. Cooper!
Don’t freak out.
He had a nice couple of rides safely on my lap.
I don’t know if he liked it,
But he didn’t jump off.
So, I took that as a positive.

I went several times more,
Positive out neighbors must think I am nuts.

But I just couldn’t let the day go by without a turn down the hill.

Coogee got into the spirit and started chasing me.
She then would run as fast as she could up and down the hill.
Biting at the snow and
I am convinced
She was having a blast.

Cooper wanted to go in.
And I was done playing by myself
So in we went to the warm and cozy den.

Time for a good read and great coffee.

Wishing you a joy filled New Year!

My advice- take those once in a lifetime moments and grab them.
So it was just sledding down the hill,
But it more than that.
It was having child like fun.
And nothing beats that.

(So I didn’t last as long as I used to…oh well. It was still a good time.)

Happy and Blessed New Year to all!

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Thank you to all of my readers, visitors , supporters and guests!
I hope you enjoy another year with me and celebrate 2012 with this toast:

Raise your glasses
To you!
my inspiration,
The words I share come most often from love.
And though some I have met
And some I know
And some I may only know from afar,
You have touched a deep part of my heart and made me feel loved.
I only hope to help you find your love for self and neighbor through the wisdom God spills on the page before me. Happy New Year!

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,300 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

The Best Gift I Could Give

This morning I sit reflecting on Christmas and the baby Jesus.

As I start the clean up
Of what’s left of Christmas Day,
Scattered wrapping paper remnants,
Displaced chairs,
Books and gifts and movies that now need a home…

I feel a bit disorganized as I look at it all.

The fullness of my life
On the floor and on chairs and under the tree still lit in splendid glow.

But what about baby Jesus?

What gift did I bring Him this year ?

Honestly there is nothing He needs from me.

He is love and God and all that I could only dream of.

With family sitting close enough that arms were touching,
We joined a chorus of Angels at Church on Christmas Eve.

Was that my gift?
My heartfelt thanks and prayers?
My taking time for Him in the midst of parties and presents and food?
Was it the love I could share with those around me?

Is there anything I can really bring to the manger?

And then
I realized.

All of me.
Dirty from my walk,
The journey taking me always back to the manger.

Back to why He came.

To love and show me how to live.

So that today
I can read over those
“Words made flesh ”
And experience true love.

He is the gift that I must
Humble myself to.

I must kneel and bow and stoop.
He must shine in me.

Any gift I could give is really a reflection of Gods love.

But I must lower my pride,
Uncover the inner beauty,
That which is not seen when
Putting myself first.

I must make the time
And take the initiative.

Stop and give.
Give of His love within me.
So that the best gift I could ever give
Is really from Him.

The gift of His unconditional love.

Hyped Up On Espresso

This is my favorite Christmas toy ever!

I must have been a good girl this year.

The Nespresso Lattisima +
Is amazing!

Love, love, love that I can make a great latte now.

I fill the container with skim milk and slip the capsule in the designated spot and push a button.

Easy to use and great quality!

So let me just say
I squealed when I saw the box!
I mean when I came back from Australia,
That was all I wanted.
A good coffee.

What has been your favorite adult Christmas gift?

Lessons A Dog Learned On A Saturday Night

An old post, but a (I find) humorous one.
Just wanted to leave you with some laughter today. No dog was harmed in the making of this post.

Rocket has learned that when left with a bunch of girls who are drinking “champinis”, he may get set in the baby saucer.
He also has learned this amuses them greatly.

They have since apologized but he refuses to look them in the eye.

Stars and More Stars!

So I have received more stars!
Thanks to Liam!

That’s right, baby.
Three stars!

Well I hope this isn’t cheating, but I feel like one lump post would be o.k.

We all want to feel there is a purpose to our writing.
So, I hope this goes out to you all-
You all reach someone each day.

What you (and I) do with it is up to us.

I appreciate such kind words and sentiments when getting support over something I write.

In the end it is the wisdom of experience (failings) and the courage of The Lord that brings me to share these with you.

I have so many people I follow regularly and that have been great support from the beginning. Thank you!
And I have several silent followers (thanks babe) that are in my posts often, only because I love you.

So here I pass on stars to fellow bloggers.
Honestly, everyone deserves these.
Plus don’t forget to go get the rules…

Here are my nominees :

Lets get the boy his sixth star!

I am giving you each two more stars!

Thanks again, Liam!
Congrats! On your sixth!

Moment of Silence

Moment of Silence for Sandy Hook Victims on Dec. 21

Please join me in no Internet activity for several minutes on Friday.

I will pray for the victims family.
Mainly that they find comfort and peace in the coming days.
Also for safety for our children in one place they should always feel secure- school.
For the teachers and staff which help guide and run the facilities for very little money but do it mostly on love.
Finally for those suffering with a mental illness or who have not received the help they need to feel like a needed person. That we can “see” the most unseen and reach out in love.

God Bless

Boots! We Need Boots!

As the snow quickly descended in big flakes,
Cooper and Coogee had to make a decision.

Do their “business” outside and get their little paws wet and cold
Or get in trouble?

Being the (mostly) well-behaved dogs they are,
The choice was easy.

But that doesn’t mean they were happy about it.

“What do you think we are?!

“Boots, man! We need boots!”

Fun Questionnaire- Like Cosmo Magazine!

So, one of my favorite bloggers had this fun quiz that she was passing along!

You can visit her at:

  1. What time did get up this morning? Relunctantly 7:15 a.m.   Very reluctantly.
  2. Diamonds or pearls?  Diamonds, though I do think pearls have their place with the right outfit.
  3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Hmmm.  It’s been a while. “Hope Springs”  It was actually sweet but at times I had to wince.  You will have to watch to find out why.  I went with my sis (in-law) and we did laugh out loud and overall enjoyed it!
  4. What is your favourite TV show? Grey’s Anatomy and Damages- by far.
  5. What do you usually have for breakfast? It’s been “Peanut Butter Cheerios” for a while now and I feel great after a bowl.  Plus a cup of coffee. (with a creamer and 3 Splendas)
  6. What is your middle name? Rose (like my mom).  Used to hate it growing up.  I wanted to be a Marie like everyone else I knew, but now I appreciate it.
  7. What food do you dislike? Well…there is a list but by far butter on bread!  yuk.

  10. What characteristic do you despise? In myself- bitterness or jealousy, so I am working on that.  Anything I may see in others I realize is often a reflection of my own flaws.  I don’t like mean people though and judgmental- you know, look you up and down?
  11. Favourite item of clothing? Right now- slippers, but I love love love sexy shoes.  I prefer shopping for those.  When I am fit- yea, it’s still sexy shoes.
